1. Who we are
GRFN Studios LLC (“GRFN Studios,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates Song Separator at www.songseparator.com (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy describes information handled when you use the Service. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@grfnstudios.com.
2. Your recordings stay on your device
When you select a song, Song Separator reads and processes it inside your web browser. We do not upload your original audio or separated stems to a GRFN Studios server for processing. Playback, waveform visualization, and WAV exports are also performed locally.
When you choose the six-stem model, BS-RoFormer SW is downloaded directly by your browser from its model hosting provider and can be stored in the browser's origin-private storage for later use. Audio separation is performed in the browser via WebGPU; song audio is not sent to a local Python service or GRFN Studios for processing. Working audio data may remain in your browser's memory while the page is open. Starting a new track or closing/reloading the page clears the working session. WAV files you choose to download are stored wherever your browser or device saves downloads. Your browser may cache application files or the AI model for future visits; you can manage browser caches in your device settings.
3. Website requests and third parties
Local audio processing does not mean that your browser makes no network requests. To deliver the Service, your browser retrieves web pages, code, fonts, and an AI model. These requests can expose technical details such as IP address, browser type, and request time to the relevant providers.
- Vercel: Hosts our website and may process network requests, diagnostic information, and access or security logs to deliver and protect it.
- Hugging Face: Hosts the AI separation model that your browser downloads. Only the model is downloaded; your song is not sent to Hugging Face for separation.
- Google Fonts: Delivers fonts used by the website and may receive standard network and browser request information.
- Google Analytics (GA4): With your permission, measures website visits and actions such as uploading a song or downloading a stem, along with standard technical information about the browser or device.
Those services have their own privacy practices. Visiting third-party links, including open-source repositories, also subjects you to the destination website's policies.
4. Information you provide directly
Song Separator does not require registration. If you email us, we receive your email address, the message, and any other information you decide to include. We use it to reply, provide support, respond to requests, and maintain appropriate business records. Please avoid emailing sensitive personal information or confidential recordings unless necessary.
5. Cookies, advertising, and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-FKNMTMZT1G) only if you choose Accept analytics. If you decline, the Analytics tag does not load and we do not send Analytics events. Your choice is saved in browser local storage and can be changed below.
If you consent, Analytics records page visits and events when a song is successfully loaded, stem separation completes, an individual stem WAV download is initiated, a current-mix WAV download is initiated, or a ZIP download is initiated. Events include the selected AI model, and may include the downloaded stem type or number of stems. We do not send song names, filenames, original or separated recordings, or audio content through these analytics events.
Google Analytics can use first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_* to distinguish visitors and sessions. Google may also receive your page URL, approximate location, and device or browser information. We do not use these analytics events for advertising or personalization. See Google's Privacy Policy for more details.
Declining Analytics does not affect separation, playback, or downloads. Your browser may still cache application files and models independently of your Analytics preference.
6. Retention and security
GRFN Studios does not keep a server-side music library of the recordings processed with Song Separator. We may retain correspondence and related records as reasonably necessary to respond to inquiries, protect the Service, and comply with legal obligations. Website hosting and third-party services may retain their own technical records under their policies.
We use reasonable measures to protect systems we control, but no website, browser, or connected device can be guaranteed completely secure.
7. Your rights and choices
You may change or withdraw optional Analytics consent using the button above. Declining stops this site's future Analytics events and removes accessible first-party Google Analytics cookies. You may also clear browser cache or site data and delete downloaded files on your device.
For access, correction, or deletion requests concerning personal information GRFN Studios may hold—such as support emails—contact hello@grfnstudios.com. We will respond as required by applicable law.
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Service.
8. Policy updates
We may update this Privacy Policy if the Service or legal requirements change. The dates above indicate the version posted here. Please review this page periodically.
